Globalis S.A. has developed a software solution to track and monitor the fleet of trucks that provides communication and assistance to DAKAR 2011 participants in South America. This powerful tool, based on web technology, is responsible for the tracking and monitoring of vehicles traveling through the rally route and transporting communication equipment such as radios, telephones, WIFI access and battery charging stations. These vehicles also provide medical assistance services for the race participants, their crew and the media. Using a combination of the global satellite network of ORBCOMM and cellular connectivity via GSM, Globalis provides the GPS location of each vehicle every thirty minutes to inform the route and the status at each location of the race. It also provides real-time remote monitoring of the temperature inside the vans that carry the food (refrigerated, frozen and super-frozen) for the participants. DAKAR 2011 is one of the most important adventures for rally competitors, and ORBCOMM along with Globalis are proud to provide a communications solution in the support of this globally recognized event, thus increasing the safety of participants along the route of the rally.
